I’m sure you all know this famous quote from former President Ronald Reagan: “Government is not the solution to our problem, government is the problem.

This is never truer than today.

I believe that there are areas where the federal government must intervene, particularly international affairs.

But these days, all the federal government wants to do is throw money at every problem that comes up. Keep in mind that the only money the government has to spend comes from us in the form of taxes or they just print more money, causing inflation.

There are other ways to solve problems, and often state and local governments are in a better position to help their citizens. For example, many of our institutions such as those that educate our children should be left to state and local governments. Every school in the United States is different and they all have their own ways of educating our children successfully.

When it comes to agriculture, the federal government should be involved in import-export matters, but when it comes to land use and raising ranchers and ranchers, they should be able to do their job without interference from the federal government. If there are problems, let the state and local governments deal with them.

Biden also decided to follow former Barack Obama’s rules for United States waters where every creek and pothole would be examined. Farmers and ranchers know their land and certainly understand the importance of water in all aspects of agriculture.

I am also concerned about President Biden’s plan to pay off student debt. Like many of you, I went to college and paid off my debt. It took a long time and I was still paying off that debt after my first daughter graduated from high school.

She knew she couldn’t rely on her parents to pay for her education, so she joined the US Air Force and had her education paid for. My youngest daughter followed in her footsteps.

If we pay for the education of students—and I emphasize that we pay—it will cause a myriad of problems. First, paying off college loans is a rite of passage that teaches financial responsibility. If taxpayers are paying for student education what is to stop them from taking courses that will not lead to a viable career or maybe some will become career students and never graduate.

The actions of the federal government during the spread of COVID-19 have also been a debacle. They basically took away all of our rights as US citizens by requiring us to wear masks – even though the medical community hasn’t said definitively that they stop the spread of COVID and all its variants – they also shut down schools even though schoolchildren were safer from the virus than the rest of society.

To make matters worse, mask mandates have led to the laying off of first responders and healthcare providers just when we needed them most.

One day we will all look back and wonder what was going on. And why aren’t we investigating China or whoever allowed this virus to spread across the world.

Enough of my talk, let’s all continue to pray for the Ukrainians in their fight against the Russians.
